QUESTION: “In what are we one, whether or not we are at or near, ‘the summit’?”
My answer is this: We are one in:-
a) awe & wonder when faced by the unknown and unknowable Whole – & our inevitable reverential silence all beliefs and words being inadequate
b) in love & compassion,
c) in the compassion and ethic of The Golden Rule (alternative GR2) and
d) the core sameness of whatever perennial wisdom our particular tradition provides
e) in being human, here in the world, with others
The above ‘facts of life’ go beyond any and all belief systems – beyond Catholic-protestant, Shia-Sunni, Humanist-atheist-non-theist etc – they are the true basis of our unity. In these we are one regardless of belief system. No belief system, or the lack of it is a sufficient reason for killing or harming another human being.

Through these teachers I am an inter-faith-ist, an inter-spiritual-ist, a Universalist, an intermystical-ist, a student of perennial wisdom, i.e. the mystical core of all true wisdom traditions. I therefore am at least a Muslim, a Baha’i, a Christian, a Buddhist, a Hindu, a Jew and a Taoist – light is light in whatever in shines – providing men, and its usually men, have not obscured the light with a black shade of their own making!

Dave, do you consider Dr. Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra to be teachers? if not, why? What are your criteria for selection?

I have listened to both and yes they are teachers with wide influence. However they are highly commercialized. I am starting to have a similar fear about Tolle.
But in my reading and experience these are at least one level higher;

It may be that Dyer & Chopra fulfil most or all of these!
